Ilha Grande

After a big breakfast at my favorite Hostel so far (Villa 25 in Rio), I was picked up by a shuttle service (2hrs) then a 40-min speed boat from Rio to Ilha Grande (Eng. Big Island) for 190r, half of the highest quote I got. After checking in the new hostel, I shopped in town for tours for the coming two days. Abraão It a the main town on the island with many accommodation options, many restaurants and bars and one or two biggish food shops. The same green and blue lagoon tour prices from 250r to 80r (including a snorkeling mask). I booked the 80r tour for tomorrow.

The great thing about the island is that there are no roads and no cars. To get somewhere you either walk or take a boat.  Ilha Grande is just 193km2 but it has more than 100 beaches. I walked around to shop for tours, and got several mosquito bites. I haven’t used mosquito repellent in Brazil until now.

I cooked tonight to eat more vegetables.
