Three-leg flight home
I arrived at La Paz international airport by 11 pm to wait for the passport control opened at 12:30 am to catch my 3:20 am flight. A small single-terminal international airport with clean facilities and a limited variety of shops and dining options. This is the world’s highest international airport. I found a vacuum store space with a chair and power outlet on the 2nd floor to rest for one hour. I didn’t see any water fountains, and I used up my last 24b to buy three small packs of cookies. I drank most water yet left 300 ml before security check, then realized water is allowed to bring on board to international flights like in Brazil domestic flights. Like entering into Bolivia, I had to file another declaration form online to exit (before security check).
A 3-hr airport transfer at Bogota. I can’t remember what it look ed like in 2011 when I first time visited this country. BOG is a busy and efficient airport with 30-min free witi and free water fountains. Avianca is a budget airline teamed with United Airlines so I used UA frequent flyer miles to get these tickets home with a 11-hr layover at El Salvador which is not too dangerous to visit now.
