Llama steak & beef noodle soup

As recommended by my hostel staff, I went to the Witches Pub near the witches market to taste llama meat. After heavy rain, I was the only guest. It took 20 minutes for the chef to cook my Juicy llama steak with quinoa risotto with mushrooms. Llama steak tastes similar to beef, but is leaner with a flavor that also has hints of lamb and is often described as cleaner and slightly less gamey than lamb. It is a leaner, high-protein meat with less fat and cholesterol than beef.

Quinoa risotto, sometimes called "quinotto," is a creamy, flavorful dish made by cooking quinoa in the same way as traditional Italian arborio rice. While quinoa is not as starchy as arborio rice, a classic risotto technique of slowly adding broth and stirring can still yield a delightfully creamy result. The final dish is naturally gluten-free and packed with protein and fiber.

The three pieces dry llama bacons on top of the steak tasted very different from the steak. While the llama steak was lean, tender meat with a mild, beefy flavor, the dried llama bacons were smoky, salty, and much more intensely flavored due to concentrated compounds.

I chose a Chinese restaurant for my last meal in La Paz: La Gabriela. The beef noodle soup (牛肉麵, 36b, $2.8 ) tasted good but too hot, so I couldn’t finish the soup.
