Paulista Ave In São Paulo
I and my Brazilian hostel mate strolled via Paulista Ave, the cultural heart and favorite spot of the city, exploring places like Korean Culture Center, Japanese House, Casa das Rosas, Itaú Cultural Center, and Sesc Avenida Paulista.
Japan House is a private cultural center offers temporary art exhibitions. Casa das Rosas was s the "lost-in-time" old mansion located in Paulista Ave. Sesc Paulista is a complex of artistic and sports activities, and the newest cultural spot of the avenue. Inside the building, visitors need to book online to visit the top for free, with a nice cafe and a great panoramic observatory, being the best view of Paulista. We did not book but luckily included by a local group to take us in. After taking in the panoramic views, we ate lunch at the cake with food prepared by student chefs at very reasonable prices. A bowl of tuna rice noodles salad only costs $1.6 USD and an expresso costs less than one dollar.
My hostel mate left early to catch her flight back to Brasília. I continued touring by myself along Paulista Ave and passed by MASP - Museu de Arte de São Paulo, Méqui 1000, foodpark, speciality products stores, closing stores, places, fast-foods, bars, restaurants, shopping malls, and office buildings on the way. I was planning to use Uber motorcycles like in Rio, yet São Paulo São Paulo has repeatedly suspended Uber Moto and similar services due to public safety concerns, and the high rate of motorcycle accidents in the city. After riding subway with my friend for two days, I feel comfortable riding subway in São Paulo.
