Montevideo City tour

It was cold and rainy last night plus a big snorer in my dorm room so I did not sleep well. This was the third big snorer I encountered during this trip, three times higher than average!   I had to push his bed every 5 min to make him stop and it had going on 1.5 hrs. As he didn’t allow me to sleep, I wouldn’t let him sleep either. Since it was the unreasonably loud snores cannot be blocked by earplugs, I asked the hostel to move the big snorer to a private room or move me to another room. I was moved to another room in the afternoon.

I still had enough energy to tour the center of Montevideo by foot. I probably walked 10-11 km today.  I started from the Feria de Tristán Narvaja, the Open-air, Sunday flea market selling antique silverware, second-hand books & pre-loved fashions, flower, food, etc. I bought and ate one banana for $0.25 USD.

I cancelled my reservation for the free walking tour as I was the only person reserved the tour. However, I borrowed the route to tour myself. Since many facilities are closed on Sundays, I mainly saw the sights from outside, such ch as the Citadel Gate, Plaza Independencia (including the Salvo Palace and the Executive Tower), Mausoleum of Artigas, Solís Theater, Sarandí Pedestrian Street, Diversity Square, Montevideo former City Hall, Constitution Square, Metropolitan Cathedral, and Plaza Zabala.  I stopped McDonald to use the toilet and paid $3.47 for a Bacon, Egg & Cheese McGriddle which costs $4.79 to $5.72 in USA.

I did go in the Port Market and the Museo Histórico Nacional Uruguay. On the way back, I bought ham and cheese dumplings and a local beer for dinner.
