From Ilha Grande to Paraty
I and a hostelmate waited at the pier for the big ferry from the island back to Angra dos Reis. The hostel staff told me the bus stop was only 300 meters away. However, it was a local bus stop, not the bus terminal that took me 30 minutes to walk to with my 9-kg backpacks : (
The coastline views from Angra dos Reis to Paraty were gorgeous. As such, I decide to take a bus into São Paulo during the day time to enjoy the views later.
After dropping my bags in the hostel, I walked in Paraty Commerical streets to shop for tours. At 5 pm, I met the guide for free walking tour. The 2-hr walk was informative about Paraty history and landmarks. I tasted coconut, banana, and original flavors of Cachaça in one store after the walking tour. It is Brazil’s national liquor and the most important ingredient in the country’s beloved drink, the Caipirinha.
I fixed myself a quick dinner at the shared kitchen in the hostel. This was the worst one I picked during this trip. Anyway, I will tough it out.
